Keynote 2 – AI from research to care: state of the art and challenges
The complexity of research and care in the healthcare domain is compounded by the multiple levels that span from the molecular to the environmental and all of these levels generate and consume vast amounts of “Big Data”. The latter unfortunately is often not easily usable for several reasons amongst which siloed domains, generation not aligned to health, quality issues.
Technology, along with corresponding regulatory, process and organization innovations might yield great advances in helping the flow of data and knowledge from bench to bedside to published corpora and drive towards a “precision medicine” vision while monitoring real world evidence and controlling costs.
For that to happen we need a clear understanding of AI and related technologies, the real value it can bring to health and the challenges that need to be addressed for it to support the betterment of science and care.
